HAKO is pleased to announce to present an exhibition of MHAK | Masahiro Akutagawa, "Coexist with Living environment”. It will hold from December 26th to January 17th. This exhibition will be the MHAK’s new experiment with the theme of coexistence of art and living space. MHAK will be at HAKO on the opening day (Dec. 26th) and Dec.27th.

MHAK | Masahiro Akutagawa
Painter / Artist
was born in Aizu Wakamatsu city, Fukushima. Highly inspired by designer furniture and interiors, he has mainly been working on mural painting inside the buildings.
He considers painting as a part of interior and the theme for his artwork is to coexist with living environment. He had worked on many hotels and private houses utilizing his distinctive style of curve lines and repetitions. Believing his paintings have to be recognized as an atmosphere rather than an object, MHAK sticks to abstractness.
He has showcased his work in the US (NYC, LA and Portland), Argentina (Buenos Aires), Australia (Melbourne, Sidney) and Italy (Milano). Since the April 2011 Fukushima earthquake had occurred, he’s been conducting many art events in his hometown, collaborating with their traditional crafts and tourist spots. He is also active as a member of 81 BASTARDS.

1981年會津若松生まれ。ペインター/アーティスト。
デザイナーズ家具や内装空間に多大な影響を受けたことから絵画をインテリアの一部として捉えた”生活空間との共存”をテーマに壁画を中心とした制作活動を行う。空間と絵画を共存させることは絵画そのものを雰囲気として認識させる必要性があると考え、抽象表現にこだわったスタイルを追求。曲線で構築し反復する独特なスタイルを作り上げ個人邸や飲食店、ホテル客室など数々の内装壁画を手掛けてきた。一方で、Levi’s® HARAJUKUやRVCA SHIBUYA等ストア外装壁画も数多く手掛けている。その他、adidasやTHE NORTH FACE、Fender等といったグローバル企業やストリートブランドへのアートワークの提供も行い、2017年にadidas Skateboardingとのコラボレーションで自身の名前が冠されたシグニチャーシューズを含んだコレクションをグローバルで発表、大きな話題を呼んだ。また地域創生としての地方での活動や、世界中にメンバーを要するアーティスト集団『81 BASTARDS』の一員などその活動は幅広く、現在までに日本はもとよりアメリカ、_オーストラリア、イタリア、アルゼンチン等世界中様々な都市で作品を発表し国内外にその独特な世界観を拡げ続けている。
